NicotianaModern breeding has made these relatives of tobacco plants more compact. They produce their star shaped flowers from spring through to autumn and will flower for months in a sunny position. Keep nicotiana moist while establishing, but then they will tolerate dry periods. Trim spent flower spikes to encourage more.

Timing:

Plant from early spring to summer to flower in spring through summer. Will flower 6-8 weeks after planting.

Positioning:

Full sun to part-shade.

Height:

20-25cm, taller varieties to 40-50cm

Planting Distance:

25-30cm

Colour:

Mixes and separates of crimson, salmon, lime green, pinks and white.

Use:

Bedding, mass displays, cottage gardens, (large) containers.
