PoppyPoppies, with their delicate cup-shaped flowers on tall stems have increased in popularity as modern breeding brings us ever better varieties. They add colour and joy to the winter garden. They need an open sunny position with well-prepared rich soil and protection from frost and strong winds. Pinch out early buds until plants have formed good clumps. Remove spent blooms to promote further flowering.

Timing:

Plant in autumn or winter to flower in winter to spring.

Positioning:

Full sun.

Height:

30-60cm

Planting Distance:

25cm

Colour:

Mixes and separates of a big range of vibrant and pastel pinks, oranges, yellows, reds and white.

Use:

Best planted in large groups. Also use as clumps in the garden. For cut flowers, pick in early morning just as bud is popping.
