I killed my Lobella ????

A friend gave me a gorgeous potted lobella plant. I hung it on a yopan hollly branch. The next day it looked bad in one area. I moved it away from the yopon into full sun. Now the whole plant looks dead except for little shoots that are purple in color. The rest of the plant is dry and brittle. What did I do wrong--or what should I have done that I didn't do?
